“The death of a beloved is an event that rings and rings through a life. Bearing it is not a problem to be solved, but a long, slow piece of music to listen to. And mourning, like music, is best listened to with others.” - Sarah Miles from her book Jesus Freak
Grief Support is available through All Saints in a 10-week support group setting that takes place in the spring and again in the fall of each year. Carole Becker, a trained grief support facilitator with more than 15 years of experience, serves as the facilitator of the Good Grief support group at All Saints. This program follows the model provided by William H. Worden, Ph.D., who advanced the theory that the bereaved have a certain set of tasks to complete in order to reconcile their grief, making them active and self-determining participants in the grief process.
The next 10-week session of Good Grief takes place as follows:
10 important weeks!
We gather around the “kitchen table” in the LIFE Building every Thursday
6:30 – 8:00pm
beginning September 22, 2011, and concluding December 1, 2011
(We will NOT meet on Thanksgiving evening!)
Invite a loved one, friend or neighbor!
Call the church office at 602.866.9191 to register!
There is no cost to participate.
The Good Grief Support Group is:
- A place where people come together to work on and understand the consequences and pain of a life change.
- A safe place where you can share your story, your struggles, your concerns.
- A forum where you have the freedom to ask the big questions.
- A gathering where you can safely search for your own answers, with the support of others.
- Not a therapy group….but therapeutic!
- Loving, caring, educational, healing.
- Often times FUN!
If you prefer grief support on a one-to-one basis, a trained Stephen Minister can be provided to you at your request.
