Senior Ministries

Senior Ministry Mission Statement

Enabling seniors to continue to experience the baptismal promise of being part of the Lord’s family.

“But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love.”               Ephesians 4:15-16

Older adults from early retirees and empty nesters on up are invited to participate and help with events. Contact Maritta or a team member if you have questions or would like to join us.

Calling Tree

Do you live alone?  Would you like a daily reassurance call from an All Saints friend?

Calling Tree is just what you're looking for.  Calling Tree is a service offered by volunteers from All Saints Lutheran Church.  The program is offered year round and without charge.

Every morning program participants call their designated volunteer.  When a volunteer does not receive a call from their appointed participant, they will initiate a standard procedure to locate the participant and ensure that he/she does not need assistance.

For more information, please contact Bonnie Lokken or Maritta Fink or click
More Information to read more about the program.

"Cut-Ups"

A 24 Year Tradition of Service
Co-Leaders:  Terri Reiman and Shirley Baltuch

Wednesdays, 10:00 – 11:30am
Fellowship Hall

Sewing machines and all materials (yarn, thread, notions) are provided.

The Cut-Ups would welcome your participation (both gals and guys).  The group enjoys the fellowship as well as the gratification that comes from their service to those in need.

The group knits, crochets, cuts, sews and quilts newborn layettes, shawls, lap robes, afghans and baby quilts for patients at Maricopa County Hospital.

This month's highlight:

The first quilt of our new Prayer Quilt Ministry was delivered to our oldest member, Shirley Frydenlund.  Shirley has been a member of All Saints since 1992.  She was widowed in 2008 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage to her husband Freeman.  She enjoys her apartment at Bethesda Gardens Assisted Living Center and spends most weekends with her daughter Cheryl Neils.  Shirley will be 96 this December 31.  Birthday cards may be sent to her address listed in the All Saints 2010 church directory.  Thank you for tying a knot on her quilt and please continue to keep Mrs. Frydenlund in you prayers.

This year the Cut-Ups have provided crocheted shoulder wraps and lap robes for the residents of Christian Care Nursing Center.  All 60 residents of the center will receive a gift fom All Saints.  The staff at Christian Care was thrilled to receive such quality gifts at no expense to the center.

Please call the Church office if you have further questions or just show up if you would like to try it out.
