Dear Parents and Friends…
Most of us have siblings or our children have siblings. Mary and Martha were sisters. Both loved Jesus very much but both treated Jesus differently. I hope that now we have started a new year you’ll take time to sit down together as a family once in awhile and think about the ways your family treats Jesus. Do you make time for Jesus? Do some of you do more for Jesus than others? Talk about what kind of person you are with your children. Are you a servant or a listener? Jesus wants us to do both but above all else make time for Jesus everyday.
Through listening and serving Jesus, Mary and Martha ‘gave’ to their friend and Lord, as we can too. Children learn about Stewardship through the story of Mary and Martha, Zacceheus and learning about different people in the Bible using their talents to serve God. To finish the 6 week rotation the children will organize items that they have brought in so they can be given to various charity organizations. The younger children will make water bottle care kits for the homeless and all children will vote to determine where a special offering will be given. Please review the workshop descriptions below as the next 6 weeks are filled with a lot of learning!
Serving Christ along side of you,
Rendy Horner

Dear Parents,
For a lot of people stewardship seems to be difficult to talk about. Our money is a personal matter. However, we do need to talk about stewardship with our children. Not just stewardship of money but of time and talent as well. Help your children use the banks they make in Sunday school. Ask them what each section is for and help them remember to use it. Reinforce ways they can use their talents to serve God either at church or in the community. Demonstrate how to volunteer time by doing service projects together. Teach them to give back to God what He first gave us.
In His Service,
Bobbie Tomasek
Volunteers can serve where they feel their gifts are best used. They can be Teachers, Shepherds or Prepare Materials:
- Workshop Teacher Disciples’ Workshop Sunday School:
Do you enjoy cooking? Cooking could consist of mixing up and baking fish shaped cookies to teach the children about the big fish that swallowed Jonah or drying fruit that could have possibly been eaten on Noah’s arc. If Art is more your style you could help the kids create a “water jug” out of clay to symbolize the jug that the Woman at the Well may have used. Art can be many different ways to express their creativity.
The lessons were written by volunteers. The lessons teach what All Saints feels is important to the children. The lessons are written in script form so there is no guesswork as to what to say or do. But if you are a creative teacher you are not expected to “read” the lesson but instead put a little bit of yourself in your lesson. Most rotations last from 4 to 6 weeks and that is the length of your commitment. All of the materials are prepared for you so there is no cutting, gluing or preparing the night before. You teach the same lesson to a different age of kids each week -- no “last minute” studying. Prior to most all the new rotations a training luncheon is held allowing you to read the lesson plan, ask questions and then prepare yourself for the following week’s teaching. - Little Saints Sunday School Teacher:
If you enjoy the spirit and words of the little ones, this is where you would best fit. Like the teacher of the older kids you teach the same lesson to a different age of kids each week so there is no “last minute” studying. Prior to most all the new rotations a training luncheon is held allowing you to read the lesson plan, ask questions and then prepare yourself for the following week’s teaching. All of the materials are prepared for you so there is no cutting, gluing or preparing the night before… To spice up and just have fun, we have party days where the kids play games, eat fun food and periodically go outside and play with a large parachute. There is lots of fun in teaching these little ones because they are so innocent and are like sponges soaking up everything they see and hear. -
Shepherd:
If you like to be around kids but are not comfortable with a teaching role then shepherding is your ticket! This person is truly the child’s friend and face they see every week. There are a few responsibilities that are not taken lightly. The shepherd must arrive 15 minutes prior to the service to greet the children and must be able to smile at thought of change. Each week is a little different because each week the teacher is different so you must be able to be flexible and supportive while encouraging the kids. You also have the role of taking attendance, making sure all announcement papers go home and certain that the parent or caring adult who dropped the child off is the same person who picks the child up.
All Saints thinks keeping kids and volunteers safe is of utmost importance. Each volunteer involved in the children's Sunday School program is required to complete a Child Protection Program. Sessions are given periodically throughout the year. Please contact Shari Clark or Rendy Horner in the church office to find out more about the Child Protection Program and to determine the date of next program. Parents are encouraged to attend even if you are not a volunteer, you will find the information helpful and could help you know more about keeping your children safe.
- Material Preparation:
If you are more of a “behind the scenes” type person then you are welcome to help prepare materials needed for Sunday mornings. This could involve cutting, gluing baking and more…each workshop is different so the needs are different. Most of the supplies needing prepared can be taken home and done at your leisure…we do have a wonderful group of ladies that prepare materials the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 9am in the Fellowship Hall. They are true angels and would love to have you join them.
