All Saints Welcomes Pastor Kristin Rice

All Saints Welcomes Pastor Kristin Rice

Dear Saints of All Saints:

I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to begin serving as your Interim Associate Pastor.  All Saints has been a place of welcome for me since I moved to Phoenix from Minnesota two years ago with my husband and two young children.  Soon after surviving our first summer here (we arrived in July!), I connected with the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) group here at All Saints following on an online search.  Since then, it’s been a privilege to interact with several of your members and staff who have been supportive of that ministry, and to attend worship here on occasion while I was between ministry positions.  My sons Harlow (age 5) and Boesen (age 3) are also looking forward to worshipping here, in a place that already feels like home in many ways.

We came to the Valley so that my husband Deris, an ordained pastor in the United Church of Christ, could follow a call to a position as head of the chaplaincy department at the Federal Correctional Institution in Phoenix.  This put us a little closer to most of my family living in Oregon, where I grew up.  Prior to joining you at All Saints, I have been serving as Parish Associate at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City, working primarily in the areas of Evangelism and Outreach, as well as Worship.  Up until June of 2015, I served the combined worshiping community of First Presbyterian Church and Trinity Fellowship ELCA in Rushford, Minnesota, about 50 miles southeast of Rochester.  This ecumenical experience was an absolute joy, and I’m grateful for the Formula of Agreement that allows me as a Presbyterian to serve in your midst!  Previously, I served as a Chaplain Resident and Clinical Pastoral Education Supervisor in Training at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin.  While serving in Minnesota, I completed Interim Ministry Training through Sand Bur Consulting, and I look forward to applying some of those skills in our working, dreaming and visioning together over the coming year.

I am a graduate of Willamette University and San Francisco Theological Seminary, and an alum of the PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer program, through which I completed a year of mission service in rural Guatemala in 2001-2002.  I enjoy hiking, sightseeing, reading, swimming, watching football, and spending quality time with my family.  I am passionate about preaching, missional church, peacemaking, family ministry and pastoral care.  I am grateful for the Holy Spirit’s leading in this opportunity to serve Jesus Christ alongside you, and look forward to learning where you have seen God at work in your lives and in the life of All Saints, as we enter this season of discernment together.  When you find yourself on campus, please take a moment to say hello!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Kristin Rice
